SOLVE YOUR SENSITIVE SKIN WOES.

SPONSORED EDITORIAL WITH DERMIKELP | AD

It can be so difficult navigating skincare as a woman. There’s so much on the market, half of it spouting jargon that means nothing and won’t actually fix anything.

At the beginning of this year I vowed that my only ‘resolution’ for 2019 would be to take care of my skin. And with that, I want to provide you with useful information surrounding products *I* believe are worth their weight in gold, too.

SENSITIVE SKIN

Sensitive skin is something we can all battle and will most likely face at some point in our lives. When your body is irritated, putting products on it can be daunting – the last thing we want to do is inflame something that’s already struggling. I know I’ve spent endless hours scrolling Google trying to find the right products to sort out my hairs split ends or my dry cheeks. So to save you the trouble, it’s my absolute pleasure to introduce to you:

DERMIKELP

Launched last year and already awarded best new beauty product by the OK! Beauty Awards, they are a force to be reckoned with. Their products are made with nutrient-rich sea kelp – sustainably harvested by hand off the coast of South Africa.

It’s a sustainable sexy sea fest that makes me very happy.

So, what is sea kelp?

They grow in forests under the sea – working in an entire ecosystem. The plant is anchored to the seabed and absorbs nutrients from the ocean floor. The grow so high they reach the surface of the sea – soaking in all the sunlight and turning into food through photosynthesis.

To quote Dermikelp: Sea creatures feed on the floating fronds, and the constant motion of wind and waves break micro-particles up for fish and filter-feeders, like mussels. At the same time, the giant swaying plant feeds on nutrients in the water – making it a sheltered and pristine habitat for life to flourish.

How beautiful is that?

DON’T PANIC!

Dermikelp know they are blessed to work with such an incredible product. So they only take seakelp that can be replenished and employ responsible harvesting methods to ensure this splendid sea plant thrives for many years to come.

The plant is incredibly sensitive to its environment, meaning Dermikelp gather all their kelp by hand to protect the younger plants. (Most companies using Kelp in their products will use machinery). To keep the sea forests flourishing, the kelp is harvested on a rotational basis to ensure that the forest is never depleted and that the forests have time to grow and maintain sea life.

THE BENEFITS OF SEAKELP

Now you know how beautifully Dermikelp work to provide you with supreme quality and sustainability, lets talk about the actual product shall we?

Ecklonia maxima is the seakelp of choice – known for its potent nourishing, hydrating and soothing properties.

Using cell-burst technology, Dermikelp extract the nutrients they need from the plant to create the concentrated liquid called CEM-K that is the key ingredient in all their products.

This technology means every part of the kelp is used and nothing is wasted. So rather than discarding the leaves, they’re processed for agricultural use and returned to nature as nutrient-rich plant food.

THE PRODUCTS

From soothing creams, lotions and body washes to shampoo, conditioner and facial cleansers they’ve got you covered, head to toe. The perfect tonic for all your sensitive skin woes.

The Body Essentials and Hair Essentials starter kits mean you can test out the products without fear of investing too much money in a brand you haven’t tried before. Which I am absolutely here for.

HAIR ESSENTIALS

If you have a dry, flaky scalp (like me), this is the shampoo for you. It’s insanely hydrating for the locks whilst also soothing the scalp – it’s the only shampoo I’ve used that’s actually helped with my minging little head. The conditioner uses seakelp infused grapeseed oil that softens the hair and makes it mega shiny, which is basically everything we want and need in a conditioner.

BODY ESSENTIALS

The only kit you need to soothe and calm sensitive, dry or itchy skin. The body wash is beautiful. My skin always feels moisturised and fresh when I step out of the shower and is ideal for everyday use.

The lotion is my favourite thing to use on my legs. They get so incredibly dry, not matter the time of year and this works an absolute treat.

The soothing cream is especially good for on the go top-ups. I love using it on my lips – but also my knuckles which have a tendency to be very dry and flaky.

BODY CONDITIONING

This is the ‘I’m a believer and totally ready to invest in Dermikelp’ kit.

Three of our trusty products make another appearance. But we’re also blessed with the Moisturising Skin Spray which is one of my favourites. Use it after the shower or simply on the go – it’s multipurpose so can be used on the face and the body. Gorgeously refreshing for summer, but also imperative for winter skin, too.

Another addition is the Gentle Foaming Face Wash. I use this to remove my makeup. It’s super lightweight and nourishing and just feels so gentle and lovely on the skin.
